Equine-Assisted Learning

Equine-assisted learning (also known as EAL) is an educational and therapeutic method for using interaction with horses to help clients develop life skills and find new perspectives on their personal and professional goals. It’s highly enjoyable outside activity which is intensely rewarding, and effective.

Our EAL sessions are lead by a certified ESMHL instructor, and are developed to engage clients to work alongside our horses through fun learning activities which promote problem-solving, empathy, and any number of other valuable skills. Through pursuing these fun activities and challenges clients are able to work through comparable obstacles in their lives, coming to see their ability to take action to achieve their objectives.

Our horses are all trained to be very patient and understanding, whether spending time with individuals or groups, and their giving nature is very effective at boosting self-confidence, and developing prosocial behaviours.

Horsemanship

Caring for horses is incredibly enjoyable and tremendously rewarding, whether pursued professionally or just as a therapeutic recreational activity. Our horsemanship curriculum teaches our clients to care for their equine teammate, encouraging them to engage in activities outside of the arena learning new skills, and building on their equine education.

When clients attend one of our horsemanship sessions it is often the highlight of their day. These sessions enable our clients to learn, and participate in the care of their equine teammate along side their certified instructor. These sessions often provide clients the opportunity to develop empathy, experience responsibility, build confidence, become more independent, and achieve their own personal goals.
